Built by one person, on purpose.
ExoLog is designed and built by Gary Bridgeman in Brussels. It exists because the people who need a reliable record of their lives most are the people no software was designed for.
I’m Gary. Like many people, I found out late in life that I have aphantasia and SDAM. Once I had the words for it, everything clicked into place.
I do not ‘see’ things in my mind. I close my eyes and there is darkness without external light, the same depth as an underground cave. I cannot see faces, places, the colour of my front door, or my father’s face. He died when I was nine. I do not vividly re-experience or replay personal past events either.
None of this is a limitation. It is the way I operate. But it has downsides: I have no continuous narrative thread of ‘me’ running through my life. I built ExoLog to close that gap, for myself and for others like me. It has helped me. I hope it helps you.
ExoLog is also inspired by my work on EIM.

How it is built
ExoLog is a working beta, built in the open. The principles are fixed: abstention over invention, originals stay authoritative, private by default, and no feature that loses your data to meet a quota. Everything else changes as beta users push on it.
