A memory you can check.
ExoLog is a memory log for people who cannot replay their past, including those with aphantasia or SDAM. Write one sentence. ExoLog files it, links it and finds it when you ask.
The beta takes 100 people. Free to join, no card required.
We'll email you about the beta. Nothing else.
Most journals assume you can replay your life.
About one person in a hundred has no mind’s eye at all. Roughly three more see only vague, dim images. Some people cannot re-experience past events at all: they know the facts of their lives but cannot step back into a single moment.
Standard journals were not built for this. They store your words and show them back on anniversaries. They do not answer questions. They cannot prove what you wrote, or when.

How it works
Write. Link. Ask.
Write one sentence.
Text, voice or photo. Place, weather and time are captured with it. Link people and things with [[brackets]] as you type.
The log organises itself.
Every person, place, project and medication gets its own page, built entirely from your entries. Nothing to file, nothing to tag twice.
Ask, and get answers with receipts.
Search in plain language. Every answer quotes the entry it came from. When the log does not know, it says so.
Why you can trust it
Built to be believed.
A memory aid is only worth having if you can trust what it tells you. ExoLog is designed so you never have to take its word for anything.
It abstains rather than invents.
If the record does not contain the answer, ExoLog says so. It does not fill gaps with plausible text.
Originals stay read-only.
Edit an entry and the original remains, untouched. Every entry keeps two timestamps: when it happened and when you logged it. The two are never merged.
Everything cites its source.
Weekly reviews, briefings and search answers quote the entries they are built from, line by line. You can check every claim the app makes.
Ready when you are.
The beta takes 100 people. One sentence is enough to start.

Living with it
A week with ExoLog.
The week, on record.
A factual digest of last week, built from your entries and cited line by line. Continuity you can read, not recall.
Walk in briefed.
The pre-flight briefing on each person’s page: pinned facts first, then every interaction you have logged.
Anchor by chapter.
Life phases give your record chapters. “Back in my Boston years” resolves to the actual entries.
Privacy, in plain language.
- Private by default. There is no public feed, and nothing is shared unless you choose to share it.
- The AI reads your entries back to you. It does not add facts, and your entries are not used to train models.
- No ads, no data sale, no third-party trackers in your journal or on this site.
- Planned, and labelled as planned: photo encryption on your device before upload, and bring-your-own storage.
- Your data is yours. Export it or delete your account at any time.
The detail sits on the privacy page, written in the same plain language.
Where ExoLog stands.
ExoLog is a working beta. That sentence means something specific, so here it is.
Works today
- Capture by text, voice or photo, with place and weather
- Timeline, entities, links and the contextual map
- Plain-language search with cited answers
- Weekly reviews, pre-flight briefings and the verification profile
- Metrics, medication logs and life phases
Not finished yet
- Photo encryption on your device: designed, not built
- Bring-your-own storage: designed, not built
- Payments: not built yet. The beta is free, including the first month of AI credits
- Paid storage plans: not needed yet. Storage is free for the first six months
- AI features run on monthly credits, so a small project can afford to keep them on
A note from the person who built it.
I’m Gary. Like many people, I found out late in life that I have aphantasia and SDAM. Once I had the words for it, everything clicked into place.
I do not ‘see’ things in my mind. I close my eyes and there is darkness without external light, the same depth as an underground cave. I cannot see faces, places, the colour of my front door, or my father’s face. He died when I was nine. I do not vividly re-experience or replay personal past events either.
None of this is a limitation. It is the way I operate. But it has downsides: I have no continuous narrative thread of ‘me’ running through my life. I built ExoLog to close that gap, for myself and for others like me. It has helped me. I hope it helps you.
ExoLog is also inspired by my work on EIM.

Questions, answered.
Is ExoLog a medical device or a therapy?
No. It is a notebook with a good filing system. If you are worried about your memory, talk to a doctor.
Do I need a diagnosis of aphantasia or SDAM?
No. Anyone who wants a reliable record can use it. The design simply starts from the people who need it most.
What does it cost?
Nothing during the beta, which takes 100 people. The app is free and includes your first month of AI credits. After that you buy credits as you need them, and the app works without them. Storage is free for six months, then you choose a storage plan or connect your own. We never delete your data without notifying you first.
Which devices does it run on?
ExoLog is a progressive web app. It runs in the browser on phones and desktops, and you can install it to your home screen from there. No app store stands in the way.
Who can see my entries?
You. There is no social layer and no public anything. The details are on the privacy page.
What happens to my data if I leave?
You can export your record and delete your account. Your entries are yours.
Will the AI pretend to know things?
No. It can only read what you have written, and it quotes its sources. When the record does not know, it says so. That refusal is a feature, not a limitation.
